Self Catering

Self catering has always been my preferred way of going on holiday. It can work out much cheaper, particularly if you have children. . As well as being much cheaper it has numerous other advantages, if like me food is an important part of your holiday you have the advantage of:

Not being tied to set meal times in hotels, if you want a leisurely lie in before breakfast, no problem.

Being able to come and go as you please

You can eat what you like, when you like, for the same cost as at home.

If you like to eat out you can enjoy different restaurants and cuisines rather than being tied to the same hotel food all the time.

You have been out for the day and do not have the hassle of rushing back to the hotel to shower and change for dinner.

With the tremendous growth of the budget airlines more and more people are choosing to make their own arrangements for their vacations, And why not? Why pay good money to a travel agent when you can make you own booking and save money.

I have not paid for a package holiday in the last twenty years, always booking my own flights and accommodation. By doing it this way I have probably had twice as many holidays as I would have done otherwise.

The following are examples of actual costing comparisons for vacations for next year. I have based the costs on a family of four, Two adults and two children.

Two weeks holiday in Orlando for two weeks in June 2005 flying from London and staying at the Orbit Villas through Condo Savers @ £69 per night x 14 nights = £966.00

Flights to Orlando with Delta airlines booked through Online Travel
For flights to other destination check out the prices offered by the budget airlines listed on our website. Budget airlines

Transfers from the airport using Airport Transfers at £40.

This gives a total of £2238.00

Compare this to a similar holiday booked through staying in a hotel would cost £3084.00.

Quite a difference.

The savings possible make it well worth spending a couple of hours comparing prices.

There are numerous companies out there specialising in self catering rentals.

Decide where you want to go, when you want to go get prices for hotel and self catering holidays through three or four online booking agents such as:

Thomson Holidays

Expedia.co.uk home

Make a list of their costs and then go to sites where you can book your own accomodation such as:

Condo Savers
