Airport Transfers

Here at Budget Travel our mission is to help you eliminate airport transfers problems and help you make savings on all your travel costs.

If you travel regularly I am sure that like me you have had some unpleasant experiences with airport transportation.

I recall arriving at Newark airport on a Friday afternoon wanting to get a cab into New York city. Even though they have very strict rules about refusing fares, three taxis refused the fare.

The fact that the taxi despatcher at the airport would report them did not deter them. Eventually a taxi driver, who had already received previous warnings about refusing fares, agreed to take us.

He moaned and complained all the way into the city and was without doubt the rudest taxi driver that I have ever used.

On arrival at out Manhatten hotel I thanked him and gave him a tip far larger than the norm or his manners deserved......I am English!

He drove off with a bemused look on his face. I am sure that he has remembered that occasion and perhaps would not be so rude to customers in future...unlikely!

I had another occasion, where after waiting some considerable time at Heathrow airport, London, I was charged twice the going rate for a twenty minute taxi ride...He was English...It seems to be an International thing...Taxi drivers who are rude or rip you off.

I had an amusing experience last year when arriving at Nice airport, our driver was there with his placard and told us that he would fetch his vehicle and be back with us in a couple of minutes. A vehicle duly pulled up, loaded our bags. the driver asked where we were going which I thought a bit odd as I hade pre-booked the airport transfer. On arrival at our hotel the driver told us the fare, i told him that I had already paid. To cut a long story short, while our pre-booked driver was getting his vehicle another taxi pulled up assuming we require a taxi. The moral of the story is take a good look at the driver amd make sure it is the same driver when you get into the vehicle.

A footnote to this story is that when we checked into the hotel the airport transfer company had phoned the hotel to enquire as to what had happened and to make sure we were okay. Excellent service, the name of that transfer company is Shuttle Direct I would have no hesitation in recomending them.
